There comes a time probably in every person's life where they ponder what the world would have been like had they never existed at all. What great contributions have they made to society it what horrible things did society drive them to do?
My great contribution to society for this year was a nineteen minute video where I captured eighty seconds of pure joy from a man that lived life and devoted his life to providing fun times and community to others. That man passed away last week and his passing has made me very sad.
Three other sets of people decided this past week and the weekend ahead would be a great time to celebrate the union of two souls into the bonds of marriage. The joy and love they all have for each other is great. I know how they feel. Without my wife I don't know what would have become of the person I call myself. It is just another thing one ponders from time to time.
Tonight we saw a concert. Pomplamoose did a pitiful opening set and Ben Folds and yMusic performed an excellent two hour show that took the music of Ben Folds to a different level for me. The Polyphonic Spree level, one where songs played with happy melodies even with such depressing subjects can still lift me up. The new album, So There seems to really hit my current demographic. Folds managed to nail the exact situations I currently find myself in and write them into song.
Yesterday a kid in Texas got arrested for building a clock. A lot of people including me think that is incredibly shitty. The upside is that one day that kid can use the work experience that he built a clock and went to jail for it on his resume. He probably will never have to interview for a job. Kids today are way better than the majority of the millenials that came before them or whatever my generation is that came before that. They are smarter and more dedicated to fixing this planet than I can ever be. I respect that.
